I had just about given up going to exhibitions but a friend wanted to return a Std 3 262 which turned out to be an Ivatt he bo9ughtb Saturday so I went along on Sunday for moral support.
It was great,there were Trains running!
So often I have nothing but fifteen foot long dioramas with nothing happening at exhibitions, that it was a great treat to see so many continuous run layouts and ones where the train sequenced realistically, one circuit only then a different train, just like being at the lineside!
Highbridge Road was especially impressive
Kingsfield was very good too, constant main line activity and the terminating trains and light engine moves to the shed etc and the constantly shuttling yard shunter.
And just to remind us how infuriating end to end layouts can be there was the twelve volt and finger powered Edgington Junction complete with dodgy three way point that wouldn't throw properly and three foot long trins, yawn.
And plenty of trade stands although as I'm still into X04 motors and Romford wheels, I didn't actually buy anything!
Mustn't forget the O gauge? U1 2882 in polished brss in its final oil fired Licky banker condition, wow, Gimme.
